The Pinacoteca Giuseppe De Nittis is located in the magnificent Palazzo della Marra, an aristocratic residence dated 1500, originally owened by the Orsini family, then by Della Marra Family in 1600.
The collection, donated to the city of Barletta in 1913 by the widow De Nittis, Leontine Lucille Gruville, boasts the famous painter’s richest and most prestigious masterpieces.
De Nittis was born in Barletta in 1846, he studied in Naples but he won fame and success in Paris and London. He died at only 38 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
